Product Description
Quinoa is often mistaken as being a cereal grass (wheat, oats, barley, rye) however is actually a seed and belongs to the “pseudocereal” family along with buckwheat. It is originally from South America in the Andes region and was consumed by the locals there back to 1200AD.
Flaked Quinoa is a great alternative to oats for those who suffer from Coeliac Disease or have an intolerance to gluten and can be used similarly to oats in porridge and baking. To quick cook quinoa flakes use a 1:3 ratio of quinoa to water (1 cup quinoa to 3 cups water). Boil water first then add quinoa flakes and stir for a couple of minutes or until water is absorbed.
